Lonesome Rock - Yamhill-Carlton, Willamette, Oregon
Varietal: Pinot Noir
The Estate Pinot Noir blends fruit from every Pinot Noir block at Lonesome Rock, combining clones 667, 777, Wädenswil, and PN50 across varied exposures, slopes, and volcanic soils to form a unified expression of site rather than individual clone or block.
Production: The fruit was harvested by hand across three picks into small picking bins to preserve whole berries. After hand-sorting and full destemming, berries underwent a 4–5 day cold maceration, fermented with ambient yeast, and were hand-punched during fermentation. The wine was transferred to 100% French oak barrels (20% new) and aged in cold cellar for 11 months before a light filtration at bottling
Taste: Fresh and precise with aromas of violet, lavender, and black cherry, this hedonistically fruited Pinot Noir is generous yet finely textured, unfolding beautifully with air and time in the glass. The long, penetrating finish suggests a decade of graceful aging, rewarding both patience and decanting.
